How to create a secret chat in Gologram?

3 simple steps to start a secure and confidential communication

1

Fill in «Your nickname»

can be any word
2

Fill in «Chat name»

the same for your contacts
3

Fill in «Encryption key»

the same for your contacts
What difference does it make how the messenger is protected if a third-party keyboard knows the entire text of the typed message?

Gologram uses only a built-in keyboard that protects against interception of the typed message. Gologram is a truly secure messenger.

General

Gologram is the only messenger in the world without registration, for which you invent the encryption key yourself.

The transmission of messages takes place directly without the participation of the server, so there is no saved history of messenger messages on the server and cloud storage of any of your data.

The messenger has no exchange of encryption keys, no sending of encryption keys to the server, no public part of the key, no generation of the encryption key, you invent and create the encryption key yourself.

Gologram is designed for everyone who wants fast, anonymous and really secure messages.

Gologram will appeal to those who are looking for real privacy, secrecy, and anonymity.

Gologram is for those who trust only their encryption key.

There is no registration in Gologram and even your phone number is not required.

Unlike many messengers, Gologram does not have access to your phone number and phone numbers of your interlocutors, phone book, phone calls, SMS, photos, calendar, fingerprint scanner, location, camera and microphone - this significantly increases privacy and trust when communicating.

Gologram is a secure online chat and not a cloud messenger with synchronization on any devices. Your messages are not stored on servers like in Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp.

Gologram uses an encryption key that you enter yourself, the key is never sent anywhere, so it cannot be intercepted or transferred to third parties even at the request of the special services, since this cannot be done.

In Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp, the encryption key is generated by the program and sent over the Internet with all the possible consequences for privacy.

Unlike Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp, you can always see the real encryption. Each character is instantly encrypted and displayed on the screen near the "Send" button.

Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp use the system keyboard, unlike Gologram, which uses a built-in keyboard that does not allow the system keyboard to intercept the text you entered and analyze or send it anywhere.

In Gologram, no one will be able to access your messages from other devices because there is no registration in the online chat, there is no synchronization with other devices and there is no stored data on servers or in the cloud, unlike Telegram, WhatsApp or Signal.

Gologram requires only about 7 MB on your device and the size practically does not increase, it is almost 20 times less than for Telegram and several times less than for WhatsApp and Signal.

We do not ensure the functioning of the program, encrypted messages are transmitted directly between the interlocutors. Communication takes place without a server, so Gologram does not need to support a huge number of servers, unlike Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp.

Encryption of messages in Gologram occurs on your device instantly after clicking on any keyboard symbol and this can be seen at the bottom of the keyboard when pressed. When sending messages, it is the encrypted text that is displayed on the screen that is sent.

In addition, the main goal of Gologram is to make a profit, we are not altruists and do not receive money from the government or from Internet giants or 'out of thin air'. There are ads in Gologram that can be turned off for money, there are purchases to increase the maximum number of interlocutors in the chat and purchases to increase the maximum number of saved chats. This is how we earn money on Gologram. If a messenger does not earn money but incurs losses, then it is worth considering what its goals really are and who sponsors it and why. Gologram is initially a commercial project, so your trust in using the Gologram messenger is the most important component of our mission.

The mission of Gologram is to provide you with the most secure and confidential messenger in the world, which works wherever there is Internet.

In our opinion, Gologram is the most secure messenger in the world.

Gologram Basics

  • Who can I message?
You can write to people who know the name of the chat, the encryption key and are online in the same Gologram chat in which you are. The encryption key and the chat name of the interlocutors must be exactly the same, up to a single character including case.
  • Who can message me?
People can contact you in Gologram if they know the name of the chat, the encryption key and are online in the same Gologram chat in which you are. The encryption key and the chat name of the interlocutors must be exactly the same, up to a single character including case.
  • Can I delete my messages?
Yes, to do this, you need to log in to the chat and click on the "Delete" button. You can also disable automatic saving of the chat history in the menu.
  • Can I delete a saved secret Gologram chat?
Yes, you can delete the saved chat along with the saved messages at any time, for this you need to click on editing the saved chat and click on the "Delete" button.
  • How many people can be in Gologram's secret chat?
The maximum possible number of people in the chat is indicated in the menu. By default, there can be up to 5 people in the chat. If it is necessary to increase the maximum number of interlocutors in the chat, then this can be done in the menu.
  • Who can see me online?
Only those who know the name of the chat, the encryption key and are online in the same secret Gologram chat can see whether you are online or not.

Interface

By default, you can save up to 5 chat data for quick login. If you need to increase the number of chat data saves, you can do this in the menu.

A nickname in the chat is a name you invented that is shown before your messages in the chat. The nickname in the chat can be any for different chats, it is not encrypted. The length should be from 1 to 20 characters.

The name of the chat is a name invented by you that should be the same for the interlocutors. The chat name can be any for different chats, it is not encrypted. The length should be from 5 to 20 characters.

When creating a secret Gologram chat, you need to come up with and enter the same encryption key for all the interlocutors in the chat, for example, a modified text of some song, poetry, or just a long phrase about the weather outside the window.

Devices never exchange encryption keys, so correct decryption is possible only if the encryption keys of the interlocutors in the same chat completely match.

Always compare the chat name and the encryption key, they must be the same for the interlocutors in the same chat, otherwise you will end up in different chats and will not even be able to start communicating.

To transfer the encryption key to the interlocutor, use a channel that is secure, but it is safest if you do it in person when meeting with the interlocutor.

The length should be from 20 to 100 characters.

Gologram is officially available in 8 languages: English, Russian, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Portuguese, Turkish on most platforms.

If you don't like how a certain element of the Gologram interface is translated into your language, you can offer your translation by contacting us by e-mail: support@gologram.org

Safety

We believe that Gologram is much more secure than mass market messengers such as Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp based on the fact that the encryption key is not created by the program and is not sent anywhere and is not stored on the server, there is no way to intercept the text entered by a third-party keyboard, there is no synchronization and cloud storage of messages.

Also, Gologram does not have access to the phone number of the interlocutors and to the phone book, so we can say that Gologram is definitely a confidential messenger, unlike Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp.

Gologram does not use mass encryption protocols. The encryption protocol developed by Gologram is not based on a public key. The degree of encryption security and cryptographic strength of the key depends only on the user who creates it himself. The longer and more complex the encryption key, the more time it takes to select this key tends to infinity.

The approximate time required to select all encryption key options on a supercomputer is indicated when it is created.

In principle, leaks of user databases, contact numbers and messages are impossible in Gologram because no personal data is used in the application and messages are transmitted in encrypted form directly between interlocutors without using a server and are not stored on it.

Gologram always uses end-to-end encryption (E2EE).

Encryption and decryption take place on the user's device using the encryption key entered by him.

Full encryption of the message occurs during its typing when each new character is pressed.

The message "Hello!" it may look like this:
"079433118814679, 144608129462564, 329618096126488, 923700340745894, 040604864739341, 141639323324937"

or like this:

"239807714708824, 027187590917225, 733476482186423, 458374416094482, 001937319152066, 257126770271205"

or something else depending on the encryption key you created.

It is impossible to decrypt a Gologram message without knowing the encryption key.

Gologram is the only chat whose encryption you can check yourself. In many mass messengers, it is impossible for the user to check the encryption, he has to trust the lock drawn or compare some incomprehensible characters.

You can always see the encrypted message before sending it. In Gologram, you can check the encryption by entering different keys from the interlocutors in the same chat and make sure that the correct decryption does not occur and the interlocutors will not even be able to see themselves in the same chat. Trust only your encryption key.

Also, Gologram does not have access to your phone number, phone book, phone calls, SMS, photos, calendar, fingerprint scanner, location, camera and microphone. Gologram will never be able to use the camera or microphone in the background because Gologram does not have access to them. And you come up with a nickname in the chat yourself.

We do not ensure the functioning of the program, encrypted messages are transmitted directly between the interlocutors.

It is very easy to check the encryption. It is enough to install different encryption keys from you and the interlocutor. If the encryption keys differ by at least 1 character, then the correct decryption will not happen and you will not even see each other in the same chat.

In Gologram, all chats are secret. Full encryption of the message occurs during its typing when each new character is pressed on the user's device and is displayed on the screen.

To start a secret chat in Gologram, you need:
+ in the menu, click "New Secret Chat".
+ fill in the Nickname, Chat name and Encryption key
+ press the right arrow

Yes, in order to delete all saved chats, messages at once and set the default Gologram settings, you need to click the "Reset all settings" button in the menu. A warning will appear about deleting all data, you need to click 'Reset'. After that, all saved chats and messages will be deleted without the possibility of recovery and the program settings will be set by default. Your saved chat settings and messages are not stored anywhere else.

Encryption key in Gologram

The number of possible options when selecting the encryption key is equal to the number of characters in the full alphabet of the program (206 characters) to the extent equal to the length of the key:

The number of possible options with an encryption key length of 20 characters:
206^20 = 18 938 448 940 047 152 570 772 365 588 108 157 982 763 646 976

This is on 18 938 448 599 764 785 649 833 902 124 733 550 550 995 435 520
there are more options than a 128-bit encryption key:
2^128 = 340 282 366 920 938 463 463 374 607 431 768 211 456

The number of possible options with an encryption key length of 40 characters:
206^40 = 358 664 848 254 773 116 707 926 587 471 729 285 253 559 727 461 723 114 946 902 230 912 520 825 132 352 281 567 953 944 576

This is on 358 664 848 254 773 000 915 837 350 155 533 861 682 574 718 773 815 261 676 917 565 271 956 785 674 768 273 654 824 304 640
there are more options than a 256-bit encryption key:
2^256 = 115 792 089 237 316 195 423 570 985 008 687 907 853 269 984 665 640 564 039 457 584 007 913 129 639 936

In fact, if the length of the encryption key is unknown, then the number of possible options for selection will be greater. It will be equal to the number of variants of the minimum possible encryption key plus the number of variants of the next key, and so on.

For example, the number of encryption key variants with a length of 22 characters is equal to the number of key variants with a length of 20 characters plus the number of key variants with a length of 21 characters plus the number of key variants with a length of 22 characters.

Security of the Gologram encryption key

What is equal to 442 000 000 000 000 000 * 60 * 60 * 24 * 365 = 13 938 912 000 000 000 000 000 000 operations per year.

To calculate the time required to select all possible encryption key options, it is necessary to divide the number of encryption key options by the number of key selection operations:

With an encryption key length of 20 characters:
18 938 448 940 047 152 570 772 365 588 108 157 982 763 646 976 : 13 938 912 000 000 000 000 000 000
= 1,358,674,833,448,059 114,712 years

it takes 1 sextillion years (1*10^21).

With an encryption key length of 40 characters:
358 664 848 254 773 116 707 926 587 471 729 285 253 559 727 461 723 114 946 902 230 912 520 825 132 352 281 567 953 944 576 : 13 938 912 000 000 000 000 000 000
= 25 731 193 959 383 136 697 320 894 734 949 850 121 269 129 718 425 879 648 777 625 607 545 years

it takes 25 unvigintillion years (25*10^66).

The principle of symmetric encryption in Gologram

For example, the message "Hello!" it may look like this:

"079433118814679, 144608129462564, 329618096126488, 923700340745894, 040604864739341, 141639323324937"

or like this:

"239807714708824, 027187590917225, 733476482186423, 458374416094482, 001937319152066, 257126770271205"

or something else depending on the encryption key created by the user.

Therefore, it is impossible to decrypt a Gologram message without knowing the encryption key.
